Interested in volunteering?

All volunteers will need to meet the following Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) requirements prior to starting:

ONGOING VOLUNTEERS WILL HAVE TO COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING TRAININGS:  

  • Recognizing and reporting abuse  

  • Emergency preparedness

  • Prevention of shaken baby syndrome 

  • Serving children experiencing homelessness 

  • Safe sleep, if volunteering in an infant room 

  • Food handlers permit for those who will prepare or serve food  

REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL VOLUNTEERS:

  • Must be 14 years of age or older

  • If under the age of 18, must have written permission from their parent or guardian

  • Provide immunization records indicating that they have received the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine or have proof of immunity 

  • Background check

  • Complete certain trainings based on the level of volunteering commitment.

Other ways to get involved

PARENT ADVISORY BOARD

The board comprises parents who meet quarterly to ensure that family voices guide PCC’s policy, curriculum, and engagement strategies. 

 

LOCAL CHILD CARE WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT BOARD

The board guides recruitment, training, and retention strategies for the local child care workforce. The board’s goal is to identify barriers to entering the field, create local training pathways, and build a sustainable rural workforce. 

 

INLAND NORTHWEST RURAL CHILD CARE PROVIDER NETWORK

This network brings together regional child care providers and related stakeholders to facilitate ongoing communication and collaboration. The group meets quarterly to address local child care challenges and develop shared solutions.
